INTERVIEW SERIES: YWAM Ministries.

INTERVIEW SERIES.

YWAM Kona Ministries.

Rachel F.: Apostello; School of Frontier Missions.

  • What is your name, age and hometown?

Rachel F.; 27 years old from Dallas Texas.

  • What DTS did you do with YWAM and what was one highlight from it?

I did my DTS in YWAM Kona, did the Justice DTS and went to Battambang Cambodia for my outreach. For my outreach my husband and I worked in the same village every day and we fell in love with these families and kids we were working with. We taught them Bible stories and just played games with them every single day, but we didn't see any immediate fruit or salvation while we were there. Once returning about three months after, the Lord was so good and led me to a testimony night of a DTS that went to the same place on outreach right after us. They said in their testimonies that upon arriving at this village, within the first or second week they just saw so many people come to know the Lord and salvations back to back and peoples hearts completely ready to accept the gospel. So many people were baptized right after them coming there and it was just such a joy to my heart to realize that we had just sown into that and were a part of, with many others pouring into and showing the love of Christ to these people. Then to hear that the Lord had opened their hearts and that they had received Jesus into their hearts was just a blessing to my heart.

  • What is your current ministry with YWAM?

My current ministry is an apostello ministry, but it's also called the Apostello School of Frontier Missions. It's a frontier missions ministry of different training for sending people long term into the nations. I am a co-leader in the School of Frontier Missions and the duration is a three month lecture phase and then a two y ear internship in the nations following the lecture phase. Our goal is building long term consecrated communities, living a life infused with worship, intercession and the Bible! We are committed to learning the culture and language of the unreached and becoming a living, loving expression of the gospel that the lost would hear the Good News and be transformed by the Holy Spirit. Our great desire is the Jesus would be glorified, worshiped and obeyed among all peoples of the earth!

  • What is the Lord doing so far in this ministry?

So far we've only had four weeks in this school, but the Lord is so moving on people's heart to have a peace of His heart for the un-reached, the lost, and the un-engaged peoples of the earth. The Lord is marking us with a passion to bring the Gospel to those who have never had the chance to hear it and the people groups who have no opportunity to hear His name. We want to see Jesus glorified through those people.

  • Who is this targeted to; how did you feel called to this?

The school is specifically targeted to those who have a heart for missions and who have a heart to fulfill the great commandment by moving into the nations and learning a culture, learning a language and being immersed in a people group to see them fully come to know the Lord. So basically people who have a heart for long term mission work. What drew me to this was the desire and need for a training specifically to help people feel equipped and empowered before going out long term into the nations. I've seen challenges and I've faced challenges in my own life and seen the desire for a training and equipping before going to the nations. So that's why I've decided to be a part of this training to help send people out into the nations equipped.

  • Do you have any advice for people interested in serving the Lord through this type of ministry?

I'd say that if people have a heart for long term missions and desire to be a part of this, my advice is to not wait and to act on that desire. Step out in faith and believe that the Lord will shut doors if it's not the right timing or the right direction. But start actively stepping out and following the dreams and desires that the Lord has put on their life by getting the training that they feel necessary and then by going and doing it and not taking too long in that.
